I have a PhD in English. Suffice it to say, I’m good with pen and paper. (I also type really fast, so, you know….) I’m also good with deadlines; it’s the Virgo in me.
So what can I write? Well, I’ve done a lot of different kinds of writing in my day (and if it’s not on this list, that doesn’t mean I can’t do it):
- grant and funding applications
- creative writing (mostly creative nonfiction I submit for publication and bad poetry I keep hidden in the floorboards)
- book reviews
- letters of recommendation
- reports and proposals
- scholarly articles
Hang out. Put your feet up. Read some of my stuff.
Read my interview with Pushcart-Prize-winning author Celeste Ng for Kartika Review.
Read my interview with Pulitzer-Prize-winning author Viet Thanh Nguyen for Kartika Review. (Fun fact: I interviewed Nguyen in the afternoon, just four hours before I went to the hospital to push a kid out of my body. I transcribed the interview and sent it off to the publisher within two days. I meant it when I said I was good with deadlines.)
